The SPHS Band offers a great opportunity to SPMS 8th graders. All musicians & silks are invited to take part in the field show during a fall football game!! On a Friday after school 8th grade musicians will go to the high school to practice, socialize and dine with the marching band. The 8th graders will perform with the SPHS band during the evening football game. Everyone has a great time and the student also receives a free T-shirt! Information will be mailed directly to the students’ home within 2 weeks of the performance. Tentative date October 3 TENTATIVE INFO:
SPMS 8 th GRADERS …Drop off time: 3:15-3:45
Practice: 4-5:00 p.m. Dinner: 5-5:45 p.m.
Performance will be held indoors if it is raining at showtime Football game: 6:30 approximately 2 hours (Bring rain gear to watch. You will not be expected to play in the rain) Pick-up time: 8:30-9
from LAST YEAR'S INFO: You are invited to join the band for the afternoon and evening of Friday, October 26. This is a great chance to experience for yourself the fun and cool music experience you can have as a member of a premier high school marching band! Have you heard rumors? Does your older brother or sister stretch the truth? Come get your questions answered from band members and Mr. Powell! Enjoy a fabulous (catered!) band dinner! Sit with the band – and play along! Here is what you need to know …
♪ Register in advance to let us know you are coming! The form is attached.
♪ Look for music to be sent to you before the date!
♪ Be prepared to have your parents drop you off in the high school band room some time around 3:15-3:45 Friday afternoon, October 26 (we’ll giveyou the precise time soon).
♪ Don’t forget your music and your instrument!
♪ Wear comfortable clothes – jeans (but no ripped jeans) and tennis shoes. You will be provided with a complimentary shirt from the band that will be worn that night. (You may Also want to have a jacket and gloves – it usually gets cool when the sun goes down!)
♪ You will meet your band buddy and practice with the band from 4:00-5:00, followed by dinner from 5:00-5:45 or so.
♪ You will join the band for pre-game preparations and the pre-game ceremonies that begin at 6:15. (The football game starts at 6:30 and generallyruns for about 2 hours.)
♪ After it’s over, your parents pick you up in the band room (roughly between 8:30 and 9:00).
Of course, parents are welcome to attend the game and cheer on the team!
How much does it cost? Nothing but commitment of a few hours on a great Friday night!Music, a shirt, food, admission to the football game, and a great time are all provided for you. How do you sign up? That’s easy too! Fill out and have your parents sign the form and return it to Mr. Norris by Thursday, October 18! (Give them this letter, too!)
